Call for Art – Midwest Nature: Its Beauty and Its Peril
A group exhibit of artists — women, men, or transgender — belonging to the Chicago WCA — developed for the purpose of bringing artists together to display works that express the beauty of nature in the Midwest – literally, metaphorically, and in abstract interpretations. The works selected by the CWCA exhibition committee will ideally range from manicured gardens to prairie grasses and native flowers, to the water and the sky above, some conveying concerns about how some natural areas are negatively affected by extreme environmental issues like drought and flooding caused by climate change.
Exhibition will comprise 2-D media: watercolor, oils, mixed-media on paper or canvas, photography, drawing, textiles. As there is vast wall space, these works will make up the majority of the show. 3-D artworks in the following media may be entered: ceramics, marble, metals, papier mache, ‘found’ art, or fibrous materials.
Regarding sales, 25% of the proceeds would go to Mayslake-Peabody and 75% to the artist. Checks will be mailed to the artist within 4 weeks after the show is taken down. A catalogue will be ideally produced of the works that are selected. It is recommended that works be accompanied by a statement about their meaning.
