SUMMARY:Lost My Husband/Can't Lose My Country
DESCRIPTION:Solo Exhibition of Susan Grabel’s recent cast paper sculptures and mixed media installations. After the death of her husband of fifty-four years in May 2024\, the artist’s work underwent a profound transformation: the cast paper and molded cardboard portraits shown in Reflections\, her previous solo exhibition\, became meditations on loss and grief\, with faces that hide\, fragment\, protrude\, or recede to express the instability of mourning. \nThis personal reckoning intertwines with her anger and anguish over what she perceives as an ongoing assault on the nation’s institutions and Constitution by the current administration\, leading her to incorporate Photoshop collages\, flyers\, and imagery from public protest into layered backdrops that place private sorrow within a broader landscape of national fracture\, where individual grief and collective unrest converge. \nOpening Receptions\nThursday April 2\, 2026 6-8pm\nSaturday April 4\, 2026 3-5pm

SUMMARY:Ecotones: Water & Thresholds of Change
DESCRIPTION:We invite women artists\, from across the nation\, working in all media to explore water in its full breadth and ecotones – the thresholds where transformation occurs.  These are spaces where boundaries dissolve\, the visible and imagined intertwine\, and the familiar gives way to the unknown.  Water moves as both force and symbol\, shaping landscapes\, carrying memory\, reflecting emotion\, and tracing the fluid paths of ideas\, culture\, and collective experience. \nWhether approached through its tangible presence in the natural world or its symbolic roles in our inner and collective lives\, water offers fertile ground for reflection\, tension\, and interconnectedness.  We welcome work that explores water both as a physical presence and as a symbolic or metaphorical force. \nThe exhibition is hosted by the Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) dedicated to nurturing creativity and community in Colorado’s mountain region.  Center for the Arts Evergreen is located at 3188o Rocky Village Dr.\, Evergreen\, CO 80439 \nOpening Reception: April 30\, 2026\nExhibition Dates: 4/30 to 6/6/2026
