Join in on a nationwide wave of creative resistance!
The FALL OF FREEDOM: Freedom of Expression exhibit is a national, pop-up, online art exhibition spearheaded by the WCA Art Activism Pod. Inspired by the recent *New York Times* article, “Artists Respond to the Fall of Freedom” (October 14, 2025), this exhibition invites WCA members to reflect on the theme “Freedom of Expression”.
Because time is of the essence, the WCA Art Activism Pod is creating a “down-and-dirty” pop-up exhibit. Entries will be hung in the order they are received. The exhibit opens on November 1 and will evolve throughout the month as new works are hung.
Subject matter may address any theme that is important to you—saving democracy, voting rights, racism, healthcare, bodily autonomy, LGBTQ+ issues, women’s rights, immigration, environmental concerns, and more. We encourage raw, spontaneous, and community-based artistic expressions. Artwork in any medium or form (excluding video), poetry, performance stills, protest documentation, and other creative forms of expression are all welcome.
The Fall of Freedom project is an urgent call to action—asking the arts community to unite in defiance of the authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. On November 21 and 22, galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. To join in, the WCA Art Activism Pod will host an online Artist Reception and Gallery Tour on Saturday, November 22, from 4–5:30 p.m. ET.
