WCA CALL FOR SESSION/WORKSHOP/PRESENTATION
WCA AFFILIATE PANEL AT CAA 114 / 2027 CONFERENCE
FEBRUARY 3-6, 2027 | NEW YORK HILTON MIDTOWN | NYC
The Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) invites WCA members to propose panels, workshops, and presentations for the WCA Affiliate panel at the College Art Association Conference. The proposal should have a connection/thread that reflects the Women’s Caucus for Art’s mission to “create community through art, education, and social activism”. The proposal can be a panel discussion, workshop, or presentation.
Eligibility:
-Must be a WCA member and ideally, a CAA member.
– If not a CAA member, the Chair and participants of the accepted proposal must agree to join CAA and pay to attend the CAA conference.
Please note: WCA does not fund conference or travel expenses for participants, but CAA has a few competitive grants available. https://collegeart.org/programs/support-grants
Jury Process: The WCA Executive Committee and the CAA Liaison will jury the proposals.
The WCA/CAA Liaison will help guide/mentor the Chair as needed through the process of preparing the panel for the conference.
TIMELINE
January 15: Call opens
March 1: Proposal deadline
March: The WCA Executive Committee and the CAA Liaison will meet to jury the proposals.
On or before April 1st: Notification letters sent out
April 15: Session proposal is submitted to CAA for consideration
Early July: CAA sends out proposal notifications
IF THE WCA PROPOSAL IS ACCEPTED BY CAA, THEN THE CALL FOR PAPERS/PARTICIPATION PROCEEDS AS FOLLOWS:
Mid-July: WCA Session Chair advertises their session and the Call for Participation(CFP)
Late July: The CAA Call for Participation (CFP) opens; chairs of accepted sessions solicit contributors to submit presentation proposals directly to them.
Late August: Deadline for CFP submissions
Late August/Mid September: WCA Chair decides on which papers to accept and sends out acceptance/rejection letters. Informs WCA board and submits information to CAA.
September 16: Deadline for chairs of sessions soliciting contributors to make their decisions, directly notify their accepted presenters, and add to session entry.
Early October: CAA Conference Registration opens and the conference schedule is announced.
October-February: Chair works with panelists and is in email contact up until the conference.
October-February: WCA advertises the session to members
